Shocker brock. [Katie giggling]
You have to say something else than Shocker brock.
Whatever. Spots in L.A.
[Katie giggling]
Fine, go again. Okay, okay.
One more time.
I'm Naomi.
I'm Katie.
I'm Josette.
We're the band MUNA and today we're gonna be
showing you some of our favorite spots in L.A..
[Josette] Please join us on a mukbang
of our favorite places to eat.
And other stuff as well other than food.
Shocker brock.
[Katie giggling]
[upbeat music]
Well guys, we're at our favorite part of the episode.
These are our favorite spots to go to.
And if you could eat all these food, #MUNAMukbang
and we'll see you there.
[Katie giggling]
What we have in front of us is Courage bagels.
[Katie] Courage is an amazing, probably in our opinion,
best bagel in L.A..
[Josette] Sourdough bagel.
[Naomi] Prepare to wait, there's a line around the block,
but it's for good reason.
Right. They are delicious.
Canyon coffee.
I'll try the coffee while you do the bagel first.
In Echo Park. Delicious coffee, fine establishment.
[Josette] We like coffee.
You could get some work done there,
they have little snacks too. Yeah.
These tomatoes were, it's not tomato season,
but these are [beep] delicious.
Beautiful.
The way the color of them.
You waited in line, you had Courage for breakfast,
now this is our ideal lunch spot.
So we have a plate from Joy, which is in Highland Park.
[Naomi] Delicious, delicious food.
Okay, if you're going to Joy,
you need to get the mapo tofu.
This is the thousand layer pancake.
You need to get it with chili and basil.
This place is cheap and everyone's nice as hell.
There's usually a line out the door.
And then you wanna talk about Jitlada.
[Naomi] This is like a critically lauded.
It's, what's his name? Jonathon Gold.
Jonathan Gold made it famous.
Blew this place up.
RIP Jonathan Gold, one of the true L.A. greats.
It's an amazing Thai restaurant.
It's just the food is good.
It's gonna be fricking spicy so.
They're known for their seafood.
Yeah. Today they got us tofu pad Thai,
so we're gonna just go ahead.
I ain't ever had tofu pad Thai.
Is that your go to?
Patsy, patsy is my order.
Yeah, I was gonna say.
We're curry guys.
I'm a green curry girl.
[Naomi] Oh, and coconut sticky rice with mango.
Classic Thai dessert, it is so good.
[Producer] So we have like a lot more food.
We need to stop eating. [laughing]
Right. Alright.
Wait, you should keep that, wait no.
You'd be shocked.
You should keep that in the video.
Can I have this back later though?
I'm from San Diego, Jo's from L.A., Southern California.
We had to put forward some
of our favorite burrito Mexican food.
This is cena, which is a vegan pickup and delivery only
but it's very authentic flavors.
Look at this stuff, could you tell this isn't meat?
[Katie] Gorgeous.
[Josette] Remember the first time we had it?
Yeah, we were losing our fricking minds.
We ordered this a lot, like if we're working on,
if we're in rehearsal or something like that.
But I do feel like this is a pitch
for people that are meat eaters.
Like if you're coming to L.A.,
there's so many good vegan options.
Yeah, you'll have your mind blown.
Like meat substitution, so like give it a try.
Typically, there's foil and you kind of fold it.
Yeah, so we're kind of in a foil-less
vulnerable situation here but.
Yeah, go for it girl.
Just here, hold on. Gimme me a bite. Gimme.
Do you want me to do this or no?
No, I mean no, I don't want to.
No, I'm saying for them.
Whoa, yeah, thank you, I still get an edge.
[Naomi] You bite first.
Yeah, and I'm a green sauce.
I would recommend the green sauce.
Carnes cena el pastor chicken.
[Josette screams] [Josette laughing]
This burrito will kill you.
The first time we went, I ate this whole thing,
we had to walk home.
[Katie giggling]
I almost puked.
It's good that we had to walk.
I almost puked.
On the topic of good options for vegans,
this is like a vegan burger restaurant called Monty's.
We first went to Monty's.
The one in Korea Town. Yeah, in K-Town.
Oh my gosh. Holy shit.
When it first opened, and we'd never had
Impossible Meat before.
I feel like that was insane.
You, me and Kelly went on Valentine's Day. [giggling]
Yeah, for a few years me and Jo and Josette's girlfriend
spent Valentine's Day together at Monty's.
Once again, vegan.
This is Something I wanna cry about eating.
Look at this chicken. How do they do this?
I know, it's crazy.
Look at this shit.
This chicken is still crispy guys.
Yummy. It's good.
This is my. Yeah, this is what I want.
Favorite thing. Yeah.
But I couldn't stop eating that.
Monty's also hooked us up with loaded tots,
which I've never had before.
If I'm getting milkshake,
I'm getting chocolate and that's final
so I'm gonna let these two.
We'll rate one of this?
No but I think we're very curious.
Yeah, I am staring at it thinking
this is not who I am.
This is good.
But, Get a sip.
This shake is really good, it is good.
Is it really good? Yeah. Yeah.
It's strawberry. [Josette giggling]
I don't know why I sound so bitchy but if you can't tell.
It's time to put an inch to your amazing day of eating
with extraordinarily delicious Quarter Sheets pizza.
Holy mackerel, this place is awesome.
I'm gonna let y'all know right now
that I had this for dinner last night.
And let me tell you, this place is hyped up.
There's a line out the goddamn door.
It's the Courage makers of pizza
I'll tell you though, this is really worth it.
And I'm not one to say this shit,
this is really worth it.
It is my favorite pizza.
I don't even know what it is about it.
It's actually, you know, it's interesting.
It's 'cause it's crispy edge cheese on crust
around the edge.
It's also fluffy, it's giving Courage a little bit.
It's like a sexy little place.
This place has major cute factor, major ambiance,
cute date. Yeah.
Like this is a cute second or third date.
Yeah, big time.
Quarter Sheets, best pizza in L.A..
Welcome to heaven. Yeah.
[tranquil music]
So we're gonna show you around our city.
We're kind of imagining that you have a day in L.A.
with us and these are the places
that we would wanna show you.
We are kind of east sider so we're kind of living
in this area.
Yeah so. Hey wait,
this says Atlantic Ocean, this is a trick.
Trick, wrong.
What the fuck?
Trick map.
Wait, y'all who did this?
Trick map trying to [beep] us up.
[Katie laughing]
Who did this? Was it you?
Does someone have a pen? Pen please.
Do you wanna fix it? Yeah, let's fix it.
Okay, so just in case you guys were wondering,
L.A.. is next to the Pacific Ocean.
Malibu. Malibu, yeah.
Oh this is nice actually.
'cause then you can fill in extra stuff
Glendale.
So yeah, I would say the lesbians care
about Glendale as well.
[Josette] Pasadena
Pasadena, you could start Pasadena, right?
It starts right there.
Dena, altadena.
We're all gonna have slightly different things
that we'd wanna take you to do,
but yeah, I'm just gonna say I would wanna take you
on a hike in Griffith and around here is the L.A. River.
I know you thought it was funny 'cause it's kind of ugly.
No, the railroad river's beautiful, it's wild.
And I would walk on the L.A. River near around Griffith.
And I would take you on a bike ride.
[Katie laughing]
We're competing now.
If I was gonna go hiking, I wouldn't go there.
Sorry Katie. I would go somewhere up here.
You would go to the. I would go to Angeles Crest.
It's the mountain range above
essentially all of Los Angeles.
[Katie] Right? Los Angeles National Forest.
Yeah, some could call it that.
One of our favorite bookstores is in this neighborhood.
Skylight Books that's in Los Feliz.
And there's like a little movie theater
that's a cute place to go.
[Josette] It's called Los Feliz Theater.
[Naomi] That's a great little indie movie theater.
There's a venue in L.A. called Largo
where it's very common for comedians to have residencies.
Or once a month.
And have other friends comment.
Well, that's what a [beep] residency is, isn't it?
[Naomi blows raspberry] Okay, well.
But yeah, we like to go there and see our friends play
and occasionally we will also be on the stage.
I heard that Fiona Apple used
to come and play in that front room.
Yeah.
All the time which is pretty cool.
And then if you wanna like cap off the night
or something, I would suggest hitting up Ruby Fruit,
which is the new lesbian bar.
It's in a little strip mall in Silver Lake.
That's where I would like cap off the night.
This is Grassell Park.
This is Grassell Park, It's Glassell Park.
[Josette] My favorite place Grassell.
Once again, the intern is getting fired.
This is awesome.
[rhythmic music]
So in our opinion,
Hollywood is one of the biggest tourist traps.
A lot of tourists think that they mainly need to be
in Hollywood.
But we wanna play a game of smash or pass
[buzzer buzzing]
Hollywood edition.
So we're gonna show you guys how to handle Hollywood,
let's go.
[Josette] First thing.
Ripley's Believe it or Not, Don't.
[band laughing] You wanna switch?
I would go. Have you been there?
I would go. Hell yeah I've been.
Have you been? What did you think about it?
It's fun.
Here's my crazy Ripley's thing.
I went as like a young teenage girl and there was a,
it looks like there's a girl who's on a beach
but naked with a towel.
And it looks like you're gonna go into the other room
and see her naked.
But then when you go in the other room, she goes away
and I spent like 15 minutes trying to figure out.
How to see the body? How to access the girl.
You're [beep] gay. Wait, how old were you?
I was like, I just don't get how this doesn't work
'cause it seems like she would be there.
I would totally go, I would totally go
if a group of people said to me.
So two outta three, smash.
Oh man, two so's.
Can I pass it please?
You don't wanna know why I'd go?
Honestly zoom into their faces.
So scary. It's so scary.
[Naomi] We would go to see these
lovely young gentlemen only.
I'll go for our induction, honey.
I wanna pass and so I'm going to.
[buzzing sound]
Look at Zayn in that, they did him really dirty.
That's crazy.
Okay, next one.
Whatever, I would go.
[Josette gasps]
We would go!
And we have been, we went recently.
Big time smash
Magicians, I dunno how you'd do it. I don't.
And that's kinda one of the main things about magic.
No, no, no, no. But we went to The Mentalist show
and honestly.
[Naomi] I don't know how he did that show.
How the hell did he do it?
I'm so confused.
I think The Magic Castle is pretty hard to get into.
[Josette] Yeah, it's not for, you can't just go,
You need to know somebody. Yeah.
Or it's like really expensive.
You need to know a member.
So if you're having to pay
To be able to go go. Like a lot of money.
I don't know. But it's worth seeing if you have
a friend of a friend of a friend who can get you in.
[Josette] Friend of a friend of a friend.
[Katie] And it's fun, you gotta dress up.
[Naomi] Yeah, you dress up. It's like suit and tie.
[Katie] Go eat like a pork loin in there.
[Josette] You have the most most expensive meal
you're ever gonna eat in your whole life.
[Naomi] You can go to the Harry Houdini room.
Big time smash.
Is this the Hollywood cemetery?
Go to Hollywood Cemetery for, in my opinion, three reasons.
One inside L.A. or another like meditation group
is doing meditation in the Masonic.
That's cool. I think that's fun shit.
Two, there's a show at the Masonic Lodge.
[Josette] Or a movie.
[Katie] And three, Cinespia is playing a movie.
[Josette] At the Hollywood Cemetery.
[Naomi] It's so fun.
So we went and saw 'But I'm a Cheerleader'
at Cinespia around the time our album came out,
and that was really fun.
Yeah, you can walk around, there's peacocks.
Yeah, smash it. Smash.
Yeah. We all smashed.
Last one. One, two, three.
[buzzer] [Crew laughing]
Skip. You don't need to go there, it's okay.
[Katie] You don't need to be there.
Unless you're walking to Wrigley's Believe It or Not.
Wait. Wrigley's? Wrigley's Believe It or Not.
I said Wrigley's. [laughing]
It's overcrowded, it's stinky.
There's nothing to be exciting to be said, really.
Wait look, zoom in, zoom in right here.
You see this raptor? That's where it is.
[band laughing]
That's where Wrigley's is [laughing]
Yeah, don't go to the star walk.
Honestly, just don't be on Hollywood Boulevard
if you don't have to be.
[upbeat music]
So, if you're coming to L.A. with us,
you need to know some lingo.
So we're gonna go over some basic L.A. slang with you.
First on the list.
Dank Dank.
Damn, that burrito was [beep] dank.
Dank.
It's Southern California slang.
Dank means Good.
It means good. It's weed. It's weed slang.
It's from marijuana.
It means that weed be stanky.
[Naomi laughing]
It's particularly sticky, icky.
Sticky, icky.
Then it's danK.
I can't.
If you're reading this, you might need to read it
with like vocal fry.
I can'T.
Yeah, I can't.
I cannot. That was good.
I wanted to go tonight but I just can't.
So you should know that if you're gonna be in L.A. a lot
of people are gonna be saying that they can't.
Do anything.
They flaking.
They can't keep their plans.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
They can't make it.
I would meet you for dinner tonight
but I just can't. I can't,
Can't leave my couch.
The 405, the 101, I would say The.
Yeah, the over everything.
I don't understand how to say a freeway
without saying the before.
I agree with you. Okay.
I actually don't know how to speak about it.
I heard there was a point
where they all had actual titles,
the freeways and then when freeways went national
then it changed to a number system
and the the is left over from that time.
That is what I heard.
Animal style. Yeah.
Animal style. In-N-Out burger.
I don't really actually like it.
It's 1000 Islands Sauce.
Sauce. Which is.
And cheese. Yeah.
And grilled onions.
Are there pickles too? Yeah.
And In-N-Out is quality shit.
In-N-Out. That shit is good.
In-N-Out is so good.
And that's the West coast that's popping up
'cause other people will say shake shacker
but [beep] you guys, In-N-Out for life.
Okay Babies, that's about it for MUNA's favorite spots
in L.A..
So we hope you enjoy, go eat some good food
and maybe we'll see you around.
We probably won't see you, L.A. is too big.
But if we do see you then hell yeah.
Shacker brock.
